A new adult romance TV adaptation is in development at Crave, the streaming service that previously made the widely successful Heated Rivalry. Crave is a Canadian company owned by Bell Media, which has optioned the book in question.
Five Brothers TV show in works at Crave
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bell Media has secured the rights to Penelope Douglas’ Five Brothers for Crave. The outlet reports that the media conglomerate intends to develop a multi-seasonal TV show from the book. In a statement, Douglas noted, “Five Brothers was such an immersive writing experience for me with a cast of characters I connected to immediately. I can’t wait to see these men brought to life.”
Five Brothers came out in 2024 and tells the story of the five Jaeger brothers and one woman who learns their secrets. Carlyn Klebuc, Bell Media’s general manager of original programming, underscored how the success of Heated Rivalry, itself an adaptation of Rachel Reid’s Game Changers book series, inspired them to search for the next big page-to-screen hit.
“Heated Rivalry proved there is global appetite for sexy, sophisticated, and mainstream romance stories,” Klebuc said. “With complex lead characters, a boundary-pushing story, and a built-in audience, we’re excited to develop Crave’s next big swing in the romance genre.”
Released on November 28, 2025, on Crave, Heated Rivalry quickly became a global sensation. It debuted in the US on HBO Max on the same day as in Canada. The series currently has a 96% rating from critics on the review-aggregating site Rotten Tomatoes. Phillip Maciak of The New Republic wrote in a review, “The show feels unique. It’s physical and intimate, surprisingly quiet, and it moves strangely, telling its story in lurches and skids.” Additionally, Crave has already renewed Heated Rivary for Season 2, which may debut in the spring of 2027.
The Five Brothers TV show currently does not have a release date.
