Prince William’s reported response to Prince Harry meeting King Charles during the UK visit has now come to light. Coming at a time of continued friction between the brothers, the meeting drew particular notice. It was also one of the first known in-person meetings between the Duke of Sussex and his father since the royal occasions of the past.
Prince William reportedly ‘furious’ with Harry’s meeting with King Charles
Prince William is reportedly “furious” after King Charles welcomed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Highgrove House last week.
The Sussexes joined the monarch and Queen Camilla at his Gloucestershire residence on July 10. They brought along Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. It marked their first gathering as a family in four years.
The Duchess and the children haven’t been to the UK since 2022. Relations between the couple and the rest of the family have remained strained since the allegations raised in their Netflix series, TV interviews, and Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare.
Speaking to Sky News Australia’s Paul Murray on July 12, TalkTV host Mark Dolan said: “The Sussexes have won. Meghan Markle back on royal property.”
The reunion between the King and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has led some observers to speculate about a possible reconciliation. However, a royal commentator has suggested Prince William has no plans to repair his relationship with his estranged brother.
“It’s my understanding that William is furious about this. Why? Because it’s a reward for the treachery, disloyalty and the cruelty of Harry and Meghan,” Dolan noted. “Charles wants to see his grandchildren, I understand that, but I think that Harry and Meghan had no right to be on a royal property. They got their way as usual.”
Additionally, Murray pointed out that Prince Harry has had other chances to bring his children to meet their grandfather.
Although the Sussexes were at Highgrove House, the Prince of Wales was in Windsor for a charity polo event, less than a two-hour drive away. The siblings did not cross paths at any point during Prince Harry’s five-day trip to Britain.
