Whoopi Goldberg was seemingly left stunned on Thursday’s live show when she spotted someone in the audience, who she believed was former President Barack Obama.
Goldberg seemingly freaked out at the sight of the former President before realizing it was an audience member who looked like Obama. Goldberg explained the situation to the audience to address this misconception.

Whoopi Goldberg had quite a moment on Thursday’s episode of The View, where she seemingly spotted someone who looked a lot like former President Barack Obama. Goldberg seemingly believed for a moment that it was Obama in attendance.
This incident happened at the very start of the episode on Thursday. “Hello, hello, hello, welcome to The View!” Goldberg announced to the live audience in the studio before quickly asking her cohosts, “You see the man that looks like Obama? You see the man who looks like Obama up there?”
Goldberg then pointed to the man as Sunny Hostin exclaimed, “Oh! You do!”
Goldberg admitted, “I was like, is the president here?” She shouted, “Look at Obama! Obama,” while moving her arms, and the audience applauded the man. The man smiled and looked down as he became the center of the unexpected attention.
“I saw you out of the corner of my eye, and I thought, no… I just had to say it!” Goldberg further explained to the live audience.
Before moving on to their regular segment, Joy Behar made a joke about the man’s singing abilities. “Let’s see if he can sing ‘Let’s Stay Together,'” referencing Obama’s iconic rendition of the song.
Interestingly, Barack Obama did make an appearance on The View back in 2020 during the 13th season of the show. The studio audience gave Obama a 30-second standing ovation.
