The interaction left even Theroux confused. He went on to ask why they were hitting each other during the segment.

The View has seen its fair share of curious developments over the years, but few expected to witness a slapping match between Whoopi Goldberg and Sara Haines while the show was on air.
In a recent episode of The View, Whoopi Goldberg and Sara Haines slapped each other a collective total of six times during an interview with Kate Hudson and Justin Theroux.
In a wide shot of the Hot Topics table, Haines playfully hit Goldberg on the arm while discussing Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada 2. “Ow!” Goldberg exclaimed and hit Haines back immediately. Haines hit Goldberg again, followed by Goldberg returning the favor. The pair continued hitting each other back and forth, prompting a reaction from Theroux.
“Why are we all hitting each other?” a confused Theroux asked. The camera cut to Goldberg, but she did not seem amused by the interaction. Instead, the veteran EGOT winner appeared visibly annoyed by Haines.
Previously, Goldberg slapped Haines on air after the latter made an oral sex joke about fellow panelist Joy Behar. This incident took place in the May 25, 2026 episode.
Whoopi Goldberg has been the moderator and co-host of ABC’s daytime talk show, The View, since 2007. She has been one of the show’s longest-serving hosts and is a key figure in its daily “Hot Topics” discussions. Haines joined the panel in 2016. Though she departed once before, she rejoined in 2020 and has been on the show since.
