Donald Trump’s ICE Crackdown Has Sara Haines Questioning Her Politics

Sara Haines says her time on The View has changed how she thinks about politics, particularly immigration. The co-host once viewed the issue through a more conservative lens. However, recent actions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have made her reconsider her position. Haines said hearing different perspectives on the show has also influenced how she views political issues.

During a recent episode of The View, Haines explained how her political views have evolved. “This show has made me more liberal and more conservative on different issues,” she said.

Haines identifies as an independent and previously supported stricter immigration policies. She said she focused on fixing what she viewed as a broken system and questioned why sanctuary cities followed different approaches.

Her perspective changed as she watched ICE enforcement under President Donald Trump. Haines said seeing agents remove people from their homes pushed her toward a more liberal position on immigration.

“It has forced me to swing almost to the other way completely on that,” she explained. Her comments reflected how recent events challenged some of her earlier views.

Co-host Ana Navarro agreed that people should remain open to changing their political views. Navarro, a registered Republican, said party labels should not determine how people vote.

“I think this idea that if you’re born a Republican, you have to die a Republican, or if you’re born a Democrat, you have to die a Democrat is intellectually lazy,” she said. Navarro argued that voters should look beyond party affiliation and consider what individual candidates support.

She also reflected on how her own voting habits changed after becoming a U.S. citizen. Navarro said she voted for Hillary Clinton against Trump in 2016, marking the first time she had supported a Democrat.

“It was a hard thing to do, but it liberated me,” Navarro said.

Haines’ comments added to the broader discussion about how political views can change as people reconsider their experiences and beliefs.
