Euphoria Season 3 sees Cassie, played by Sydney Sweeney, launch an OnlyFans career to earn money to afford incredibly expensive flowers for her wedding to Nate, portrayed by Jacob Elordi. While this storyline has garnered criticism from viewers and critics, it has particularly triggered models working on the adult content creation platform. Recently, they expressed their dismay, arguing that it made light of the realities of their line of work.
OnlyFans creators slam Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie in Euphoria Season 3
OnlyFans models, already facing mixed-to-negative public perception, have slammed Euphoria Season 3’s depiction of Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie’s career on the platform. They stressed that it trivializes the efforts they go through in their career.
Sydney Leathers, who has been active on the site since 2017, told Variety that much of Cassie’s work shown in the series is “ridiculous and cartoonish.” She added, “There’s so much that they have her doing that is not even allowed on OnlyFans, and that alone is infuriating,” bringing up the controversial scene where she dresses as a baby as an example.
Leathers stressed that credit card processors for the platform have “very strict rules” for creators that they need to follow. She emphasized that these “are getting stricter all the time.”
Meanwhile, Maitland Ward, a top creator on the site and adult star who previously worked on movies and TV shows, argued that Cassie’s baby costume worsened the existing distorted perception of real-life OnlyFans creators.
“In the climate we’re in, that they dressed her up as a baby to make p—-graphic OnlyFans content was beyond troubling and again serves to perpetuate stereotypes that sex workers have no moral compass and that they will do anything for money,” she explained. “And there’s always this untrue stigma that somehow sex work is synonymous with sex trafficking and abuse. And they just said, let’s make a joke of it. That is so funny. I’m not laughing.”
Meanwhile, Alix Lynx pointed out how Cassie going to an influencer’s house for a video was brilliant from a marketing standpoint. However, she stressed that simply having the looks, dressing up, and doing “crazy s—” will not bring money instantly, as that wasn’t how OnlyFans worked. “You have to really grow and nurture a fan base,” she elucidated.
