Sydney Sweeney’s cameo was edited out of The Devil Wears Prada 2. Sweeney reportedly filmed a scene for the movie that was ultimately cut. Notably, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is a sequel to the eponymous film released two decades ago. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt will reprise their roles in the sequel.
Sources suggest why Sydney Sweeney’s role was cut
As per sources, Sydney Sweeney’s role was cut from The Devil Wears Prada 2. According to Entertainment Weekly, the Euphoria star filmed a special appearance for the much-anticipated film, which was ultimately cut. The scene was originally meant to appear at the beginning of the movie.
Sweeney was supposed to appear as a celebrity client for Emily Blunt’s Dior executive character, Emily Charlton. However, the source explained that it was a “creative decision” to cut Sweeney’s cameo from the film altogether.
Previously, Sweeney was photographed in mid-2025 while heading to the set of the film. At the time, the media was convinced that the Christy star would definitely make a cameo in the high-fashion film sequel.
As per EW, ultimately, Sweeney’s scene did not flow seamlessly into the film’s narrative structure. While the team was grateful for her generous special appearance, they eventually had to axe her role from the movie.
Interestingly, writer Aline Brosh McKenna denied that The Housemaid star was ever going to star in the film. In an interview with ScreenRant, McKenna shared, “There were a lot of photos from the set of various people. And then there were those memes, where it was like, ‘So-and-so is in the movie. So-and-so is in the movie.’ It became a running joke about who people had seen on set and were in the movie.”
The interviewer prodded further, asking whether Sweeney was originally in the film. To which McKenna simply replied, “Well, you saw the movie. She’s not in the movie.”
Sweeney is currently starring as Cassie in the third season of Euphoria. Unfortunately, the 28-year-old actress is receiving a lot of backlash for playing the role of an OnlyFans creator this season, who pivots in that direction to pool money for her dream wedding.
