The second season of a Money Heist prequel show is set to arrive on Netflix next month. It follows a fan-favorite character from the original show as he and his team take on a near-impossible job to steal one of the most prized paintings from the High Renaissance.
Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine to stream on Netflix soon
Berlin Season 2, also known as Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine, will begin streaming on Netflix from Friday, May 15, 2026. It will comprise eight episodes, all of which will become available on the same day. The streaming giant announced the release date in a trailer earlier this year.
The upcoming season follows the titular character and his team as they reunite for the biggest heist of their lives up to that point—stealing Leonardo da Vinci’s Lady with an Ermine painting. The story takes place in Seville, Spain, rather than Paris, where the previous season was set.
During an interview with Netflix, Álex Pina, creator of Money Heist and co-creator of Berlin, spoke about the new season. He said, “It’s a trip through the golden age of the character, when he robbed around Europe, crazy in love.”
After Money Heist, Pedro Alonso returned as Berlin in the first season and will reprise the role again in the upcoming season. The returning cast also includes Michelle Jenner as Keila, Vargas as Cameron, Tristán Ulloa as Damián, Joel Sánchez as Bruce, and Peña Fernández as Roi. Meanwhile, Inma Cuesta, José Luis García-Pérez, and Marta Nieto are newcomers to the series.
The first season premiered on December 29, 2023, and quickly climbed up Netflix’s top charts. According to What’s on Netflix, the prequel garnered over 11.3 million CVEs (Complete Viewing Equivalent) in just three days. Critically, it received a mixed-to-positive reception from critics and viewers. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a steady 70% Tomatometer score and 62% Popcornmeter score.
