Jonah Hill’s Underrated Black Comedy Arrives on Hulu Soon

The 2011 comedy movie The Sitter, starring Jonah Hill, will become available on Hulu in less than a week. The R-rated film follows a suspended college student who fills in as a babysitter for his mother. However, a simple night turns into a chaotic adventure.

The Sitter begins streaming on Hulu in April

The Sitter will begin streaming on Hulu from Wednesday, April 1, 2026, according to the platform’s schedule.

The film centers around Noah Griffith, a college student who has been suspended and lives with his mother, Sandy. While she enjoys an evening out with friends, Noah fills in for her as a babysitter for the Pedulla family’s three kids. Things take a wild turn when Noah receives an inticing invitation.

Unable to leave the kids alone, he takes them along. As the night progresses, the kids’ unrelenting, unpredictable behavior leads to a series of bizarre yet hilarious situations involving dangerous criminals.

David Gordon Green directed the film, while Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka served as lead writers. The film stars Jonah Hill, Sam Rockwell, Max Records, Landry Bender, Kevin Hernandez, Ari Graynor, and JB Smoove, among others.

Released on December 9, 2011, The Sitter initially received a mixed-to-negative reception. On Rotten Tomatoes, 111 critics gave it an average rating of 22%, and over 25,000 users rated it an average of 39%. The sentiment was also reflected in the film’s box office performance. By the end of its theatrical run, it earned $34.9 million on a reported budget of $25 million, per Box Office Mojo.

Interestingly, one of the film’s posters included a phone number that the studio advertised as Noah’s. The number reportedly routed to an automated message featuring Hill’s voice. The message said, “If you’re searching for a babysitter, look no further. I need, like two hours, tops, to sober up, and I’ll be right over. Okay, leave a message” (via Slant Magazine).
