Donald Trump’s adviser, Alex Bruesewitz, seemed to throw shade at Cardi B during a recent discussion with Nicki Minaj, while she seemed to silently smile at the comparison. While he did not name Cardi B, he mentioned Minaj’s “competition,” leading netizens to conclude that he was talking about the I Like It singer, who previously delivered a speech in Milwaukee in 2024 in support of Harris’ presidential campaign.
Donald Trump’s adviser appears to shade Cardi B
Nicki Minaj made an appearance as a guest speaker at the Trump Accounts Summit in Washington, D.C. on January 28, 2026. The event was designed to encourage parents to enroll their children in Trump Accounts, a new tax-advantaged investment account.
Earlier in the day, when Minaj was asked to speak a few impromptu words, she said, “I am probably the president’s number one fan. That’s not going to change. And the hate or what people have to say does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more. We won’t let them get away with bullying him. God is protecting him.”
After this, Trump senior adviser Alex Bruesewitz sat down with Minaj for a fireside chat, where he drew the comparison with Cardi B.
“You look pretty good behind the seal, by the way,” Bruesewitz said (via Complex), “must admit: Your competition, which really isn’t competition, didn’t really look good behind the seal when they were with Kamala Harris. Just saying.” Those in the audience had an audible reaction to the comment.
Cardi B had delivered a speech in Milwaukee in 2024 in support of Harris’s presidential campaign. Her speech focused on reproductive rights and economic concerns. She had also criticized Trump in her speech. Later, right-wing supporters criticized Cardi B for this stance.
Meghan Thee Stallion also performed at a Kamala Harris rally, but did not give any speech.
