Prime Video’s live-action God of War series is finally moving ahead with its pre-production phase and has now dropped casting reveals for several lead characters of the show. Most recently, Amazon added Max Parker to the cast as the Norse god Heimdall, resulting in a frenzy among fans on the internet. Most netizens seem to have approved Parker’s inclusion in the God of War series, with some even offering suggestions to ensure an appropriate characterization of the role.
Max Parker’s casting as Heimdall has fans talking
God of War fans have enjoyed all the casting developments in the upcoming live-action series so far, and the sentiment has extended to the announcement of Boots alum’s addition.
Max Parker will step into the shoes of the villainous Heimdall, who made his debut in God of War Ragnarök, the second entry in the fan-favorite PlayStation video game series (via DiscussingFilm).
In the games, Heimdall serves as the Watchman of Asgard. A god in his own right, he possesses the ability to anticipate what’s about to happen. This power helps Heimdall immensely during battles as the Norse god can predict his opponent’s moves before they execute them. However, he always feels underappreciated by his peers, as well as by Odin, which causes him to always vie for power and mock anyone who seems weaker than him.
Reacting to Max Parker’s inclusion as Heimdall, one X (formerly Twitter) user lauded the God of War casting so far, stating, “They’re cooking.” Another fan echoed the sentiment by writing, “The casting has been absolutely golden so far.”
Moreover, a third fan explained why Parker may fit the role, noting, “Max Parker has that perfect, pretty, punchable smugness vibe, which is exactly what Heimdall needs. Now we just need Kratos to make him regret existing.”
Meanwhile, a God of War enthusiast urged Prime Video to maintain Heimdall’s vanity in the live-action adaptation, stating, “Please let him be arrogant, punchable, and terrifying. Anything else is lore-breaking.”
Notably, Max Parker joins Ryan Hurst, who will don the mantle of Kratos, and Teresa Palmer, who joins in as Lady Sif, Thor’s wife, in the God of War cast. Despite the positive updates about its pre-production, the show has yet to receive an official release date.
