God of War fans have the most wholesome reaction to Mandy Patinkin’s casting as Odin. Odin’s character is described as “not physically imposing or particularly god-like, but looks can be deceiving.”

“He is the most popular Aesir god, a patriarch who leads with an iron fist, and an unrivaled seeker of knowledge. When it comes to seeking out prophecy, Odin is paranoid, manipulative, and dangerous — he will do anything to try and prevent Ragnarök, the Norse end of days,” (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Fans are stoked to witness Patinkin as Odin in the live-action version of God of War. One fan commented, “Now THAT is an interesting pick for the character.” A second fan wrote, “At this point, I trust the God of War casting team. Prime Video’s choices have been great.”

“Yup, that is an amazing casting choice! He’s so good,” a third fan chimed in. “That’s an amazing casting,” a fourth fan shared. Finally, a fifth fan penned, “He is a really good actor, and this is a great casting.”

Celebrated showrunner Ronald D. Moore, best known for Outlander, will be helming the live-action adaptation of God of War. Emmy-winning director Frederick E. O. Toye, who has the acclaimed Shogun to his credit, will reportedly direct the first two episodes. Prime Video has commissioned the show for two seasons, and pre-production is underway in Vancouver.

The official description reveals: “God of War follows father and son Kratos and Atreus as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of his wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.”
