Fans show their support to Fredrik Eklund after his mother’s death

On December 19, Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles star Fredrik Eklund shared the news of his mother Jannike Wenke’s passing in an emotional Instagram post.

The post quickly garnered support from his followers, who showed their support with warm messages. One user wrote, “I’m sorry for your loss, Freddy. Wishing you and your family a long life.”

Another commented, “Beautiful. How proud she was of her two sons and grandchildren. A lovely tribute. Sending condolences.” A third user pointed out, “Your daughter resembles her!”

The television personality and former model Yolanda Hadid also shared her condolences, writing, “Sending you much love and light to get through this most difficult time in life.” And Emilia Bechrakis Serhant, who appears on Million Dollar Listing New York, responded, “So sorry for your loss.”

Eklund’s post featured photos of his mother throughout the years, accompanied by a deeply personal message. He wrote, “This is the hardest post I will ever write. My mom passed away last night after a brave battle with cancer.”

The reality TV star continued, “There are no words big enough to describe how deeply we loved her — so perhaps the photos can speak where language fails. When a mother dies, something inside of us dies too. And yet perhaps something else is born: the memories, the gratitude, and pain that will never leave.”

Eklund added, “She was a private but immensely strong woman, so intelligent, colorful, powerful. The very best mother my brother and I could ever have wished for. I think when you look into our eyes, you will always see her.”

The 48-year-old then said that in the last three months, he “traveled back and forth to Sweden constantly just to be near her.” He added, “We were lucky, so fortunate, to be there at the end days holding her.”

The Bravo alum also reflected on her love of “baking and cooking,” and the time they spent together doing it. He concluded, writing, “This morning I woke up to heavy rain. Rain was her favorite weather. She always said it made her feel free. Now she is free.”
