Elon Musk spoke about DOGE in a podcast interview with Katie Miller on her podcast. On December 10, Musk appeared on Miller’s podcast, where he discussed DOGE, AI, and robotics, his future projects, and his career goals, amongst other topics.
Elon Musk shares his stance on whether he would join DOGE again
Elon Musk explained his stance on DOGE in Katie Miller’s podcast. Katie asks him, “I think the story of DOGE from your perspective has never been told. Do you think you were successful?” Musk replies thoughtfully, “We are a little bit successful. We were somewhat successful.”
Miller then asked, “Would you ever do DOGE again?” To which Musk responds, “I mean, no. I don’t think so. I think instead of doing DOGE, I would have worked on my companies, essentially. They wouldn’t have been burning the cars.” This was a reference to consumer protests against Tesla.
The Tesla founder revealed DOGE was a “made-up name” based on “internet suggestions.”
While the megabillionaire’s answer was briefly mentioned at the beginning of the video, Musk and Miller discussed DOGE again in their conversation. When asked if he would do DOGE again, Musk counter-questioned, “Do you mean would I repeat history?” However, Miller interjected and explained, “Two ways to think about it. One is if you could go back and start from scratch, like it’s January 20th all over again. Would you go back and do it differently?”
Musk hesitantly replied, “No,” and when she pressed him again, the SpaceX CEO responded, “If you stop money going for political corruption, they will lash out big time. So they really want the money to keep flowing. If you stop it from flowing, there’s, like, a very strong reaction to stopping the money flowing.”
Musk stepped down from his role at DOGE earlier this year. At the time, he revealed, “It is funny that we’ve got DOGE. Doesn’t the absurdity of that seem, like, like, are we in a simulation here or what’s going on? But, like, it was a meme coin at one point. How did we get here?” (via AP News)
