During an appearance on “The Louis Theroux Podcast,” Wilde spoke about Elon Musk openly promoting incel misogynistic beliefs while sharing her experience at his SpaceX headquarters. She revealed that she met him years ago, “before he turned into a creature.” She said, “I really resent him now. I really deeply resent him,” before adding, “I met him many, many years ago. I think SpaceX had just built their headquarters in L.A., and I got to go on a tour because I wanted to see the rocket ships.”
Wilde mentioned that during that time, Musk showcased interest in donating money to the organization that she was a part of in Haiti. The organisation catered to building hospitals and schools. She revealed that he did donate a little bit of money, a gesture she deeply appreciated, but she was also later left confused. “I would never have predicted he would go down the path he has gone down. He did seem really smart,” she elaborated.
Wilde earlier believed that Musk was smart and committed to charitable work, but her view changed over the years. She then pointed to his misogynistic ideology, particularly his beliefs that men are naturally more powerful and can have control over the opposite gender, their bodies, and their choices. She further referenced these comments in connection with Musk’s remarks about an “underpopulation crisis.”
A few years back, Musk took to X (formerly Twitter) to comment about the declining birth rate.
He wrote, “Doing my best to help the underpopulation crisis. A collapsing birth rate is the biggest danger civilization faces by far.”
