Seth Meyers recently mocked Donald Trump after the latter received the FIFA Peace Prize on December 5, 2025, at the 2026 World Cup draw at the Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C. Notably, Trump, who has voiced his desire to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, campaigned for the same this year. However, María Corina Machado of Venezuela ended up being awarded the prize.
Seth Meyers comments on Donald Trump’s peace prize
Seth Meyers called Donald Trump’s FIFA Peace Prize “fake” in the latest episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers. He also highlighted how Trump said in his speech after getting the prize that American football’s name had to be changed since soccer was the real football. Meyers jokingly added that Trump would have become angry if anyone else, but him, suggested that American football’s name be changed.
The SNL alum then jokingly stated, “Donald Trump has been desperate his entire life for human connection — I’m just kidding, for big old shiny awards.”
The late-night talk show host also noted that the US President was “obsessed with the fact that he never won an Emmy” during his time as a game show host. Meyers then played a clip from Season 14 of Trump’s game show, The Celebrity Apprentice, where Trump told contestants that he was “screwed out” of an Emmy. In the clip, Trump told contestants he was so certain he would win an Emmy that he stood up and began walking to the stage before the winner’s announcement.
After playing the clip, Meyers quipped, “Oh, to be that immune from embarrassment.” He joked that if he stood up and started walking for an Emmy he didn’t win, he would walk until he “submerged [himself] in the Pacific Ocean.”
Meyers later played a clip from 2011 in which Trump claimed that the Emmys were rigged. In the clip, Trump clarified that he was not talking about himself or his show, The Apprentice, but “certain shows” — which he wouldn’t name — that didn’t get the acclaim they should’ve gotten. After playing the clip, Meyers mockingly imitated Trump’s voice and highlighted three infamous Emmy snubs — The Wire, Angela Lansbury’s performance in Murder, She Wrote, and Steve Carell’s performance in The Office.
