A new MCU rumor suggests Cailee Spaeny‘s role in the X-Men reboot. The actress was previously linked to playing Rogue.
Industry insider MyTimeToShineHello claimed in a since-deleted X post that Cailee Spaeny will play Kitty Pryde in the MCU’s upcoming X-Men film. However, in the next post, the scooper clarified, “Wait, sorry, I misunderstood the source. She’s in talks for Kitty Pryde. Not a done deal at all.”
In another post, the insider shared, “Kitty Pryde and Beast only have small roles in the first movie. I guess this is part of why it’s so hard for them to close the deals.” The insider also claimed, “Charles Melton is out as Beast.”
Beyond the actors Marvel already confirmed, no additional casting announcements have been made for other X-Men characters. So, the recent scoops are just rumors for now, and it remains to be seen whether Spaeny joins the MCU as Kitty Pryde.
Cailee Spaeny’s rumored Marvel role comes after months of Rogue speculation
Before being linked to Kitty Pryde, Spaeny was rumored to play Rogue in the MCU’s X-Men movie. Several previous fan theories and casting rumors suggested that the Alien: Romulus has joined as the beloved X-Men member. However, Marvel has since confirmed that Obsession star Inde Navarrette will play Rogue.
Marvel unveiled the official X-Men cast at the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event earlier this year. In addition to Navarrette as Rogue and Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, the upcoming film will feature Kit Connor as Scott Summers, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, and Maya Boyd as Storm.
Adam Driver will play the main villain Nathaniel Milbury, or Mister Sinister. Meanwhile, Gen V star Asa Germann is in talks to play Warren Worthington III/Angel, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Jake Schreier, who directed Thunderbolts*, will helm the untitled X-Men film. The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 5, 2028.
