Halle Berry’s Custody Battle for Her Son Takes Surprising Turn in New Update

Halle Berry’s ongoing custody battle for her son is back in the spotlight with its latest update. The actress is fighting for custody against her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez.

According to TMZ, Berry and Martinez’s 13-year-old son Maceo will testify in his parents’ custody trial, as per a court order. However, his testimony will be “limited to the request for an issuance of a restraining order.”

Martinez is currently seeking a restraining order against Berry, after alleging that she physically abused their son. The court granted him a temporary restraining order earlier this month.

The custody battle between Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez continues to unfold

Martinez accused Berry of being violent towards Maceo on October 1, and filed for sole custody. He alleged that she “physically abused” their son during an incident on September 26 and claimed “other instances of abuse” in the past few years.

Berry has since denied the accusation, citing her own experiences as a victim of physical abuse. The X-Men star stated, “I have never physically, emotionally, or otherwise abused Maceo,” in a declaration filed on October 5. “I am a victim of domestic violence, and I help victims of domestic violence.”

The 60-year-old added, “I am not a perpetrator of violence. I would never hurt our child.”

Martinez had previously emphasized that Maceo “should have the opportunity to have his voice heard regarding what he experienced that night.” He added, “If he is prevented from addressing the Court regarding these allegations, I fear that he would be dissuaded from reporting problems or potential abuse in the future.”

Berry strongly objected to Maceo testifying in court during an upcoming custody hearing. She claimed earlier this week, “Rather than welcome testimony from these witnesses with direct personal knowledge, Olivier dismisses their observations while elevating the testimony of a neurodivergent 13-year-old child who has spent the last two weeks primarily in Olivier’s care and with whom Olivier admittedly has been discussing the allegations, the litigation, and his anticipated testimony.”

Despite Halle Berry’s statement, Maceo is set to testify in his parents’ upcoming hearing.
