Prime Video has set a release date for Chris Hemsworth’s latest film about human endurance. Released earlier this year, Learning to Fly is a documentary produced by Unreasonable Studios and Chris Hemsworth and Ben Grayson’s Wild State. Hemsworth himself didn’t appear in the documentary, instead choosing to handle executive producing duties.
Learning to Fly will debut on Prime Video on September 24, 2026, in all countries the service is available in. The sports documentary was released earlier in August and is set to hit theaters in Santa Barbara and Milwaukee later this week. It originally premiered at the Telluride Film Festival last year.
What is Chris Hemsworth’s Learning to Fly documentary about?
Learning to Fly follows former competitive runner-turned-photographer Aisha McAdams documenting her interactions with elite trail runners, including Jim Walmsley, Rod Farvard, and Eszter Csillag.
The film captures the athletes participating in the Western States Endurance Run in the mountains of Eastern California and the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) in the French Alps. Along the way, the film follows McAdams as she reconsiders her decision to leave the sport.
“Under a full moon over the Alps, a headlamp bobs through the dark for the eighteenth hour,” reads the synopsis. “This is ultra running: 100 miles of mountain terrain, run through the night, chasing something just past the edge of what seems humanly possible.”
The 103-minute film is directed by Max Lowe, who previously helmed Camp Courage and Torn. Evan Hayes, Katy Chevigny, and Ayesha Rokadia serve as producers. Lowe, Justin Barocas, Benjamin Grayson, Kevin Joseph, Andy Mininger, Chad Moore, Erika Gabrielli, Robin Green, and Stefano Caroti are executive producers.
As for starring in films, Hemsworth will next be seen in Avengers: Doomsday, reprising the role of Thor. The actor also appeared in the travel documentary Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember, which was released last year.
