Jason Statham’s upcoming action movie Mutiny was made available for streaming online accidentally. The movie was reportedly streaming on Amazon Prime Video, according to fan reports on Reddit.
While this happened only for the US version of the streaming platform, fans were surprised. That’s because Mutiny has not yet been released in theaters. Set for an August 21, 2026 release, the movie would have been made available for online streaming only after it completed its theatrical run.
Later on, The Verge confirmed the news that Mutiny was actually up on US Prime Video. It also added that the movie’s entire 1-hour-and-35-minute runtime was available for streaming. However, the movie was swiftly pulled from the platform and is currently unavailable. The Verge has further suggested that there is no evidence that this particular incident was a deliberate marketing tactic from the Mutiny team.
What is Jason Statham’s new action movie Mutiny about?
The official synopsis of the movie reads, “In Mutiny, after witnessing his billionaire boss’s murder and being framed for the crime, Cole Reed boards a cargo ship on a one-man crusade to avenge his boss’ death, only to discover an international conspiracy.”
In the trailer, the 59-year-old star, who plays Cole Reed in the movie, can be seen fighting inside a boat. Engaged in a violent physical altercation with his enemies, Statham pulls out a knife, which he plants into one of his enemies’ faces to kill him. The trailer also shows Annabelle Wallis in the same boat, struggling to get out of a room.
The action-thriller is directed by Jean-François Richet and has been co-written by J.P. Davis and Lindsey Michael. Apart from Wallis and Reed, Mutiny also stars Arnas Fedaravicius, Rumi Sutton, Rolland Møller, Ramon Tikaram, Jason Wong, Lee Charles, Adrian Lester, and more.
