Avid Marvel fans who are waiting for Avengers: Doomsday should consider rewatching an old Spider-Man movie. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is surely Tom Holland‘s latest blockbuster, winning over everyone, but it might not be the most important entry leading into Doomsday.
According to a new rumor from insider Alex Perez, it seems 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home may play a crucial role in connecting the dots with Avengers: Doomsday’s events than Brand New Day.
During a Q&A session for The Cosmic Circus, Perez was asked if No Way Home and Brand New Day would be crucial for the plot of Doomsday. In his response, the scooper claimed, “Yes. No Way Home more so than Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but yes.”
While the insider has got a solid track record, fans should take this information with a grain of salt for now unless there comes an official update.
How could Spider-Man: No Way Home play into Avengers: Doomsday?
The new rumor paints an interesting picture of Spider-Man: No Way Home’s importance ahead of Avengers: Doomsday’s release. And there are reasons to believe that rewatching it might be crucial before witnessing Doomsday.
Various other rumors online have suggested that Doomsday will also feature Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man. Maguire was previously seen in No Way Home, fighting alongside Holland and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man versions.
No Way Home also focused heavily on the multiverse, and Doomsday will dive deeper into it. In fact, its official synopsis has already confirmed that the story will focus on the heroes of “three distinct universes as they’re set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.”
Interestingly, Maguire’s Spider-Man is rumored to be involved in an incursion moment at the beginning of Doomsday. He will reportedly try to save his universe from being destroyed by the incursions.
However, all unverified reports should be treated with extreme caution at the moment.
