Avengers: Doomsday Turns Long-Awaited MCU Reunion Into Heartbreak, Says Insider

Avengers: Doomsday will feature a tear-jerking reunion that fans have long been waiting for. New insider reports claim that a long-anticipated reunion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will turn into a heartbreaking one as things allegedly take a tragic turn.

These claims come from @MyTimeToShineH on X regarding Thor and Loki’s meet-up in Doomsday after the events of Avengers: Infinity War. In a thread posted on X, the scooper claimed in a tweet, “Cap and Thor barrel through a wrecked TVA. They see something that will change everything.”

This was followed by another tweet that read, “POOR Loki. People gonna CRY ??.” Further making things even more perplexing and leaving fans questioning, the insider tweeted, reposting the original tweet: “Him and Thor meet, but… let’s say it’s not a happy reunion.”

Judging from the tweet, it sounds like Thor and Loki will meet again in Doomsday, but their reunion allegedly won’t be a very happy one. Regardless, it’s worth noting that this remains a rumor as of now, yet to be officially confirmed by the studios.

The long-awaited reunion adds another layer of intrigue to Avengers: Doomsday’s MCU story

Fans already know that Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston) died in the opening moments of Avengers: Infinity War, and Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth) had to tragically watch his brother pass away without being able to save him or do anything to help him. This upcoming on-screen reunion between the two will notably mark their first shared appearance in the MCU since that moment.

But there’s more to this story. Since that moment, the characters have evolved a lot. Thor has returned after the events of Thor: Love and Thunder, having moved past his comic-relief phase to focus on grief and fatherhood. Meanwhile, the Loki returning is not the main-timeline version Thor lost, but the variant who evolved into the all-powerful “God of Stories” holding the multiverse together at the End of Time at the conclusion of Loki.

With a massive multiversal roster assembling, these evolved versions of the brothers are expected to find themselves fighting alongside Earth’s heroes against an overwhelming cosmic threat powered by Doctor Doom. It remains to be seen how exactly Thor will process that this version of Loki is a variant from a branched timeline rather than his original brother.

Avengers: Doomsday hits the screens on December 18, 2026.
