A new Avengers: Doomsday rumor hints at a controversial but comic-accurate relationship in the upcoming film. The crossover is set to unite the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men in a battle against Doctor Doom.
What is the new Avengers: Doomsday rumor?
A new Avengers: Doomsday rumor from scooper James Mack claims the film could explore a love triangle involving Reed Richards, Sue Storm, and Namor. Fans have long wondered whether the love triangle from Marvel comics will make its way in the MCU adaptation. Mack also claimed the film features a scene in which Sue is in Namor’s arms as he flies over the ocean. However, this remains an unverified rumor and should be treated as such, as Marvel Studios has not revealed any official plot details for Avengers: Doomsday.
This isn’t the first time that scoopers have reported on the rumored relationship. Earlier this year, another scooper claimed that Namor and Sue would share the screen. In Marvel comics, the two have long shared an intense dynamic, although Sue ultimately remains with Reed. Last year’s Fantastic Four: First Steps began with Sue and Reed already married, with the plot focused on the impending birth of their child, Franklin. The film’s post-credits scene later shows a young Franklin meeting Doctor Doom.
Namor made his MCU debut, played by Tenoch Huerta, in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Starting as an antagonist, Namor changes his tune at the end of the film, joining forces with Shuri/Black Panther and Wakanda to strengthen his kingdom, Talokan. The film also establishes Namor as a mutant, making him one of the confirmed mutants in the MCU.
Marvel is expected to release the Avengers: Doomsday trailer soon, possibly at San Diego Comic Con this month. Alleged details of the trailer have already leaked, with Marvel Studios teasing the film with a first look at its concept art at a recent expo.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
