The Soundcase is a Portable Speaker System That’s Also a Briefcase

The Soundcase speaker system is a new Kickstarter project that looks to combine a portable speaker system with the functionality of a briefcase, allowing connectivity with your mobile device whilst also providing storage for festivals and the like.

The speaker system, designed by Swedish startup Sound of Style, is nearing its goal of 30,000 SEK (roughly $3,500) with one week to go, and though some may question the practicality of the product (there are arguably a limited number of occasions in which you would simultaneously want a briefcase and a portable speaker), it is an interesting design that’s made easier on the eye thanks to its retro aesthetic.

According to Sound of Style their goal “was to create a powerful speaker that was extremely easy to use,” and with it being completely wireless and offering a battery life of up to 14 hours continuous use, it certainly could prove to be useful at festivals, with festival-goers being its designers’ target market.

Whether the Soundcase actually manages to appeal to this audience is a whole ‘nother issue, but considering the concept, it’s much better looking than you’d expect.

The Soundcase is available for an early bird price of $182 via the project’s Kickstarter page, while $352 will get you a customized Soundcase built according to your requests.
