SpaceX has officially made history, after the organization’s Falcon 9 rocket successfully landed vertically at Cape Canaveral, Florida last night (December 21st), after concluding its journey into space and back.
Falcon 9’s safe landing has ensured that SpaceX’s ongoing mission to produce reusable rockets has made one major step in the right direction, opening up the possibility to allow more people into space in the future, with it set to drive down launch costs.
The 23-story-tall rocket was greeted with a rapturous response from the assembled crowd of SpaceX employees as it successfully landed back on Earth, which you can watch below:

The successful landing of the Falcon 9 has marked the first time in which SpaceX have managed to recover a rocket from an orbital flight, after a number of previous attempts in which the company had unsuccessfully attempted to utilize floating landing pads. After the rocket landed safely back on Earth, SpaceX founder Elon Musk tweeted: “Welcome back, baby!”
