Comic-Con 2015: Finding The Humans In Artists’ Alley!

Venturing into the Artists’ Alley at San Diego Comic-Con International is a lot like going into the wild. You never quite know what you’re going to find.

Sure, there was the usual assortment of established artists from Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, IDW, and Dynamite, alongside up and coming indie comic creators. Everything from superheroes to supernatural horror can be found in that perpetually shrinking section of Comic-Con.

Then there’s The Humans, an off-beat creator owned comic book series published by Image Comics. Created by Keenan M Keller and Tom Neely, The Humans is a ‘70s inspired biker exploitation comic… with talking apes. Think of it as Sons of Anarchy meets The Planet of The Apes.

Yep, that image pretty much sums it up.

At Comic-Con, CraveOnline’s Jami Philbrick caught up with Keller and Neely to get more info about The Humans and what inspired this comic. The creative team told us where the actual humans are in this world and they offered us an inside look at this bizarre alternate reality that they’ve created.

Keller and Neely also talk about the soundtrack for The Humans that has been releasing a few songs per issue while building up towards an actual album!

Here’s how Keller and Neely describe the book:

“Apart, they are nothing…Deemed by society as outcasts, misfits, losers, no good punks! But together, they are The Humans! The Humans is a high-octane, no-holds-barred, ape-biker-gang chopper ride into ‘70s exploitation genre bliss.

Follow Bobby, Johnny, and all The Humans as they fight and fly down the road to oblivion on a ride filled with chains, sex, leather, denim, hair, blood, bananas, and chrome.”
