Comic-Con 2015: Batman & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles To Crossover

Perhaps more than any other character in comics, Batman lends himself well to crossovers. Spider-Man, the Hulk, Daredevil, The Punisher, Judge Dredd, Danger Girl, Grendel, and numerous other comic book icons have all shared adventures with Gotham City’s Dark Knight. Now it’s the TMNT’s turn!

At Comic-Con International 2015, DC Comics and IDW have jointly announced that Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will join forces in a six issue miniseries slated to premiere later this year.

Batman Eternal co-writer James Tynion IV will pen the Batman/TMNT crossover alongside artist Freddie E. Williams II. The story finds the Turtles thrust out of their home dimension and stuck in Gotham City. The Batman is their best chance to get home, but first the Turtles will have to get past Batman’s entire rogue’s gallery of villains!

As much fun as this sounds, the TMNT are also overdue for a crossover with Marvel’s Daredevil. When Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was created in 1984 by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, it was openly a parody of Frank Miller’s Daredevil run. In fact, as originally conceived. the same accident that created the TMNT also blinded Matt Murdock and gave him the enhanced senses that he later used as Daredevil. Perhaps Marvel and IDW will finally greenlight that crossover at some point in the future.

DC and IDW will release Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles # 1 in November 2015.
