Recipe: Go Exotic with Chinese Cole Slaw

It’s not the best news for lovers of sun and sand east of the Mississippi, but summer 2014 is in the books. We’re even past Labor Day. So, warm weather-themed ingredients are a little passé now — like wearing white.

Still, the glass is half-full because this time of year gives us a chance to try out some more exotic and experimental recipes. Try this Asian-themed side dish for your autumnal meat-themed dishes.

Chinese Cole Slaw

Ingredients:

1 bag shredded cabbage (Cole Slaw mix)

1 bag Oriental Flavor Ramen Noodles

Mix:

  • 3 tbsp white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • Ramen seasoning pack
  • 4 chopped green onions (optional)
  • Brown in one/half tbsp oil or butter
  • 3 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 cup slivered almonds

Preparation: Toss together 1/2 hour before serving. Top with onions (optional). Chill. Serve.
