Surface Pro 3 Set For August 28 Australian Release

Australian tablet aficionados rejoice- Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 is on our doorstep and will hit shelves by the end of the month.

The 12-inch Windows tablet will jump into retailers JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman on August 28 and will be available in all three of Intel’s core i3, i5 and i7 processors.

Surface Pro 3 prices kick off with the i3 64GB at $979 while the i5 128GB will sell for $1209, the i5 256GB for $1549 and i7 256GB and 512GB options going for $1829 and $2279 respectively.

Australia joins a 25-country international launch as Microsoft attempts to finally break into the top five tablet makers after previous versions of the device suffered lacklustre reviews and totalled $38 million in unsold devices.

Considered more comparable this time around to the MacBook Air than hugely popular direct competitor iPad, the Surface Pro line has cost Microsoft a cool $1.7 billion since its release in 2012 as the company attempts to match Apple’s success in the tablet market.

The Surface Pro 3 features include: 0.91-cm, 0.79kg frame, up to nine hours battery life, 2160×1440 2K full HD colour-calibrated screen, USB 3.0 port, microSD card reader, a custom Surface Pen to navigate the multitouch display, and two 5MP cameras.
