Just as you were supposed to be kind to Mom last month, it’s time to show Dad some attention in June.
So, make yourself useful. Get off your backside and make your Dad some damned good chili with this recipe.
This formula throws some spicy wrinkles into a traditional mix, but it has enough bulk to feed a hard working man like your father.

Dad’s Rebel Chili
- 2 pounds ground beef
- Large can tomato juice
- 4 tbsp chili powder
- 2 14 oz can diced tomatoes
- 2 14 oz can bean sprouts. (drained)
- 2 14 oz can French style green beans..(drained)
- 1 14 oz can kidney beans (do not drain)
- 1 tbsp dried oregano leaves
- 2 beef bouillon cubes
- 2 bay leaves
Preparation: Brown ground beef, drain. In a large pot, combine juice, tomatoes, chili powder, bouillon, bay leaves and oregano. Simmer for one hour. Add ground beef and vegetables. Simmer for an additional hour, stirring occasionally.
Season to taste for extra spice. Can be served with shredded cheese, diced onion or sour cream.
