Watch The First Extended Trailer For Fargo Season 2

Fargo was one of the big surprises of the last TV season. Somehow, Noah Hawley and his collaborators managed to faithfully recapture the tone of the Coen Bros.’ classic movie without aping the original. The Fargo TV series even takes place in the same continuity as the Fargo film!

For the upcoming second season of Fargo, Hawley has written a new story that takes place back in 1979. The crux of the season revolves around the “botched robbery” in Sioux Falls that was alluded to in the first season of Fargo.

The only returning character from the first season is the young Lou Solverson, now played by Patrick Wilson. In Fargo Season 1, Lou (Keith Carradine) was a retired cop and the father of Molly Solverson (Allison Tolman). Cristin Milioti (How I Met Your Mother) is playing Molly’s mother, Betsy Solverson.

Kirsten Dunst is also headlining this season as Peggy Blomquist, with Ted Danson as Sheriff Hank Larsson, Jean Smart as Floyd Gerhardt, and Jesse Plemons as Ed Blomquist. Hawley has also assembled a very talented supporting cast including Nick Offerman, Brad Garrett, Kieran Culkin, Jeffrey Donovan, and Bruce Campbell as future President, Ronald Reagan.

FX has released the first full trailer for Fargo Season 2, which hints at a hidden agenda behind the so-called “botched robbery” and introduces some of the new characters. As with the first season, there are scenes of horrific violence mixed in with the show’s dark sense of humor.

Fargo Season 2 will premiere in October 2015 on FX.
