The Simpsons’ Duff Beer Becomes a Reality

For over two decades, Duff Beer has been the favorite alcoholic drink of The Simpsons. Now it might become yours as well!

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that 21st Century Fox is officially licensing out the rights to create Duff Beer in part as a response to the bootleg Duff Beer that is widely available in South America. Currently, there are only plans to release Duff Beer in Chile, but a worldwide release is potentially in the cards.

Not only will this Duff Beer entice adult Simpsons fans, but it will also allow Fox to more actively pursue the previously mentioned Duff Beer bootleggers.

21st Century Fox’s Jeffrey Godsick said “Once you see enough piracy, you are faced with two choices: One is deciding to fight it, and the other is deciding to go out [into the market] with it.”

In North America, a version of Duff Beer is currently only available in Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando as part of The Simpsons’ Springfield attractions. But the new Duff Beer brew for Chile has a recipe by British brewmaster Paul Farnsworth with a “caramel aromatic” that makes Duff a “premium lager.”

It was also noted that Duff Beer won’t be marketed with any Simpsons characters, since that would be viewed as marketing it to children. But perhaps a live-action Duff-man could be used.
