Microsoft Unveils Virtual Reality Minecraft with the HoloLens

Microsoft devoted a large portion of its E3 2015 press conference to the unveiling of Minecraft in virtual reality, with the game being brought to life using the company’s Microsoft HoloLens headset.

The onstage demonstration revealed how the player can interact with the game’s world using the HoloLens, with the device enabling them to assume a bird’s eye view, tinkering with its buildings, and detonating TNT.

Players utilizing the HoloLens are also able to join in with friends who are playing using a standard controller, meaning that using the tech won’t isolate you from your friends.

The tech demonstration was certainly impressive, and this combined with Microsoft’s new partnership with Oculus may ensure that the company has this whole virtual reality thing locked down.
