Royals Fan Tweets His Way Into Playoff Seats, BBQ With Brandon Finnegan

In a display of heartwarming generosity, Kansas City Royals pitcher Brandon Finnegan responded to a tweet from a fan named Nicholas Knapple, who reached out claiming that he was broke and wanted to take his girlfriend to an American League Championship Series game.

They had a short conversation back and forth, ultimately resulting in Brandon securing Nicholas and his girlfriend two tickets to a game and even a potential BBQ dinner afterwards. It’s not often that we see professional sports players reaching back out to their fans, especially when one considers just how many interactions they may filter or trudge through every single day. Many sports professionals are probably very tired, busy, constantly moving, or training, along with devoting time to personal affairs, such as faith, family, interests (ya know…like normal people).

The time that Finnegan took out of his day to help make a fan’s dream become a reality is something the sports community will always remember. We need more of this, and fewer scandals. How does that sound to you?

Head on over to NESN to check out the Twitter conversation between the hopeful-turned-happy fan and Royals pitcher Brandon Finnegan.
