The Elder Scrolls Online Delayed for Xbox One, PS4

In case you were saving your nickels and dimes to pick up the console version of The Elder Scrolls Online when it was supposed to street next month, don’t bother…you’ve got a few more months to wait.

Publisher Bethesda confirmed Thursday that editions of the fantasy MMO for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 would not make their previously announced June release date and would require an additional six months to get the game ready.

In a post to The Elder Scrolls Online website and reposted at Crave gaming site Game Revolution, Bethesda said:

The Elder Scrolls Online officially launched on April 4, 2014 on PC and Mac. While it has become clear that our planned June release of the console versions isn’t going to be possible, we have made great progress, we have concluded that we’ll need about six more months to ensure we deliver the experience our fans expect and deserve.

The PC and Mac versions of the game were released last month, generating lukewarm reviews

And with the next-gen console editions delayed, Bethesda wants to steer disappointed fans to those other platforms, offering anyone who buys the PC or Mac versions by the end of June access to a digital version for Xbox One or PS4 at the low, low price of $20.

We’ll have to see if that satisfies the faithful or whether it kills the game before it can even get a hand hold with console players.
