AMC Announces ‘Better Caul Saul’ Premiere Date At TCA

The president of AMC announced many dates for returning AMC shows, but the one everyone’s been waiting for is “Better Call Saul.” The “Breaking Bad” spinoff starring Bob Odenkirk’s titular lawyer will premiere in November, according to AMC President Charlie Collier.

Collier also announced other premiere dates for AMC:

February 9: “The Walking Dead” and “Talking Dead” (confirming yesterday’s Chris Hardwick story) return alongside “Comic Book Men.”

April 6: The 90 minute series premiere of “Turn.”

April 13: The first 7 of the final 14 “Mad Men” episodes begin.

June: “Halt and Catch Fire,” AMC’s new series about the computer industry in 1983.

Collier also spoke about the common question: How do you replace “Breaking Bad” and “Mad Men?” His answer was simple. “You don’t replace ‘Breaking Bad’ or ‘Mad Men’ any more than CBS replaces ‘MASH’ or ‘All in the Family,’ or HBO replaced ‘The Sopranos.’ You look to enshrine them. We have three main objectives at AMC. Deliver premium television on basic cable, to be a first choice place to pitch for creative talent and to be eclectic by design.”

AMC also touts an impressive list of creators bringing new shows to them, including some returning hitmakers. “Some of the most audacious creators in the industry are bringing us their passion projects first, and some are back for a second round,” Collier added, listing Ridley Scott and Scott Free Productions, “Walking Dead” producer Greg Nicotero, Barry Josephson, and “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan.
