‘The Killing’ Lives Again on Netflix

For a show that’s been canceled twice by AMC, “The Killing” has proven to be surprisingly resilient. But in all likelihood, the latest resurrection of “The Killing” will probably be the end.

In a surprise move, Netflix has picked up “The Killing” for a six episode fourth and final season. Netflix had previously shown interest in running new episodes of “The Killing” after AMC canceled the show for the first time.

“The Killing” stars Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman are expected to reprise their roles as Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder for the final season.

“It’s a true testament to ‘The Killing’ creator Veena Sud, and the stellar cast led so compellingly by Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman, that fans remained so passionate about the show,” said Fox Television Studios President David Madden. “We’re gratified that our partners at Netflix recognized this, and are giving us the opportunity to complete the story in a way that will be satisfying to our loyal audience.”

A release date for the final season of “The Killing” was not included in the announcement, but a 2014 simultaneous premiere seems likely. The first three seasons of “The Killing” are currently available on Netflix.
