TGS 2013: Battlefield 4 Interview With Daniel Matros

Today at the Tokyo Game Show, Gamespot landed an interview with DICE Producer Daniel Matros, who talked about some of the key factors that are at the heart of Battlefield 4.

Daniel begins by saying that the core components of Battlefield will not change, such as the the large to small scaling of the war zones, weaponry, vehicles, and need for a big battle. The only thing that might be done to the base components are minor tweaks like new weapons, enhanced details, and other simple things, this way the balance of their ’equation’ doesn’t get thrown off. As for changes that are being made in the bigger scheme of things, there will be new game modes introduced, alongside a big addition to the team play. In Battlefield 4, teams will be able to get field upgrades based off of your teammate’s specializations and actions. The more actions you do, and the more points you achieve, the more you can do to make your team even more domineering. Furthermore, there is the introduction of evolution moments, which are just like the dynamic maps in Call of Duty: Ghosts, but clearly at a larger scale due to the immense size of the maps in Battlefield 4.

For further information on the game modes and other tweaks that have been done to this newest addition to the Battlefield series, check out the video below, and be sure to keep checking our site for more coverage on this and other games coming out of TGS.
