Preview: TV’s ‘Heroes’ in Comic Book Form

Dynamite Entertainment has launched a partnership with NBC which will allow them to rescuscitate the fallen sci-fi drama Heroes in comic book form, to be written by Cullen Bunn (Venom, Deadpool Killustrated, Fearless Defenders, etc.). If you recall (which you should, because it wasn’t that long ago), this series focused on the advent of special people who slowly discovered they had super powers, and the government conspiracies that rose up in response to that – or perhaps causing that. It was a huge hit in its first season, before falling apart in subsequent ones, but it introduced us to Zachary Quinto, who would become the new-school Spock. It also featured folks like Hayden Panettiere, Masi Oka, Adrian Pasdar, Ali Larter and more.

“Like so many others, I was a huge fan of Heroes during its original run,” says Bunn.  “I was drawn to a cast of characters with interesting back stories and development, a setting boiling over with potential, and — of course — the exploration of superpowers in a ‘real’ world scenario. With this book, I have the opportunity to contribute to the mythology of the series in a way that will surprise readers.  When I was watching the show, I never could have imagined the direction I’d be taking the story.  The narrative I’m developing will be multi-layered, complex, and character-focused, and it will shake up the Heroes storyline in a major way.  I don’t think anyone is expecting what we have in store for Claire, Hiro, Peter, Niki, Sylar, and the rest of the gang.”
