Netflix In Talks For ‘Arrested Development’ Season 5

Several months prior to the launch of “Arrested Development” Season 4 on Netflix, Reed Hastings (Netflix’s CEO) said that the revival took place under “non-repeatable” circumstances. However, Hastings seemed more open to the idea of continuing with “Arrested Development’ shortly after the series simultaneously launched 15 new episodes on Netflix.

Earlier today, “Arrested Development” executive producer, Brian Grazer admitted that the series may return to Netflix again during an interview with Bloomberg Television (via Deadline). “We are in conversations with [Netflix] to do another [season],” said Grazer. “They are interested in doing that.”

Even with mutual interest in getting another season of “Arrested Development” made, the biggest issue remains the availability of the cast, most of whom are tied to other television series or feature film roles. It’s a significant challenge, but not insurmountable. However, it could lead to a fifth season very much like the fourth in which the main characters were largely kept away from each other due the availability of the performers.

Netflix refuses to disclose their numbers for any of their original shows, but the streaming service is believed to have gained a significant spike in customers thanks to the fourth season of “Arrested Development.”
