It appears the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man may not be so friendly with his own future in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Two separate insiders have now suggested that Tom Holland’s next outing as Peter Parker will leave audiences wishing they had looked away. If the rumors hold, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures may be spinning a very different kind of web this time around.

Peter’s devastating Spider-Man: Brand New Day fate rumored
Spider-Man: Brand New Day may feature the death of Peter Parker, according to recent rumors. Insider MyTimeToShine reacted to various rumors on X (formerly Twitter), noting they point toward the iconic Kraven’s Last Hunt comic storyline.
Insider SM Vision previously claimed the film would “end badly” with a “big cliffhanger.”
In Kraven’s Last Hunt, Kraven captures Spider-Man, buries him alive, and impersonates him for several weeks. While an exact comic adaptation is unlikely, Spider-Man could “die” temporarily before reappearing later. Some fans have also theorized that an enraged Hulk and Spider-Man could fight to the death.
Brand New Day is set four years after the events of No Way Home. The official synopsis states Peter is “living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves.” It also teases “one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced” emerging throughout the story.
Mark Ruffalo returns as Bruce Banner/Hulk, with rumors suggesting he may transform into the Savage Hulk. Previous rumors indicated the Savage Hulk is the character’s deadly alter-ego from the comics. Sadie Sink’s mysterious role continues to fuel speculation, with many fans theorizing she is playing Jean Grey.
Destin Daniel Cretton directs the film, with Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers writing the screenplay. The cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, and Marvin Jones III as Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives in theaters on July 31.
