It would be ideal if schools were more focused on getting textbooks that aren’t falling apart, and less focused on some photo a teacher puts on her Facebook — a photo that isn’t offensive at all.

Let’s talk about English teacher Lydia Ferguson, who teaches at the Ousedale School. And we need to talk about her because she was suspended because, according to the administration, shared a “sultry” and “provocative” selfie on Facebook. Ferguson was then escorted off the property.

Ferguson of course defended this photo, and the other photos she’s shared on her Facebook.

Ferguson, who is 38 according to The Sun, has had a petition started by her students on her behalf called “Get Miss Ferguson Back,” and it already has reeled in over 250 signatures, with some even coming from parents themselves. Going to assume they are mostly dads. Because…

Students have accused the school of being way too prudish. And obviously, any sane person would agree.

Here’s what the lady in charge, Sue Carbert had to say:

“If we have any concerns about a staff member, this would not be discussed with students. We are aware of rumors but conclusions are being drawn which have no factual basis.”

In conclusion, Carbert is no fan of Ferguson. But here’s hoping Ferguson prevails.
