I believe it was George Costanza who once said, “Was that wrong? Should I have not done that? I tell you I gotta plead ignorance on this thing because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing was frowned upon, you know, cause I’ve worked in a lot of offices and I tell you people do that all the time.”

According to WNCN, a 25-year-old Indiana man will be left to ponder that for pretty much the rest of his life, much of which will be spent behind bars thanks in large part to the robbery and beating he administered to an elderly couple at a home in August.

Authorities said Steven Burns and two other men “threatened the homeowners, hit the husband in the head with a gun, and got away with cash, credit cards, and valuables.” A short while later, they were involved in a standoff with police, and he was subsequently captured along with everything that was stolen.

After a jury found him guilty of burglary while armed with a deadly weapon, robbery resulting in bodily injury, criminal confinement and other charges last month, a judge decided to “reward” Burns with 70 years in the clink at his sentencing on Tuesday. Burns didn’t like it, called the judge a “cowardly bitch” and was awarded another 180 days in the slammer for it.

Call it a hunch, but we’ll say Burns shouldn’t have done that.
