Netflix Orders Another ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ Miniseries

Against all odds, the 2001 cult comedy movie, Wet Hot American Summer got a prequel series on Netflix last year called Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. More impressively, almost the entire cast came back for the miniseries. Now, Netflix is primed to revisit the series once again.

Via Deadline, Netflix has announced that Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later will be an eight-episode miniseries that is slated to premiere in 2017. Original writer Michael Showalter and director, David Wain are once again on board for the miniseries, which was foreshadowed in the original Wet Hot American Summer movie and even briefly shown!

Now, the question is, who will come back for a third installment of Wet Hot American Summer? First Day of Camp had phenomenal luck signing Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd, Christopher Meloni, Janeane Garofalo, Zak Orth, Judah Friedlander, David Hyde Pierce, Michael Ian Black, and Elizabeth Banks, among others. That seemed to indicate a strong desire to return among the original cast. Presumably most of these performers will be back in some capacity for Ten Years Later, but no deals have currently been announced.

The hardest thing to work through is the fact that Wet Hot American Summer’s cast is in high demand for film and TV projects, which makes lining them up for the same period of time extremely difficult.
