Davos Draws His Sword In First ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 Preview Scene

Liam Cunningham has emerged as the unlikely heart of HBO’s Game of Thrones. As Ser Davos Seaworth, Cunningham has portrayed one of the show’s most courageous and moral characters…who hasn’t gotten himself killed yet! But now that Game of Thrones is venturing past the five published A Song of Ice and Fire books by George R.R. Martin, all bets are off about Davos’ survival.

During a guest appearance on Conan this week, Cunningham revealed that Martin shared a secret about the series with him, but he declined to reveal what it was. To make up for his lack of candor, Cunningham debuted the first preview scene from the new season of Game of Thrones, which once again places his character in danger.

First, a quick reminder of how the show got to this point. Davos’ former leader, Stannis Baratheon sent him to Castle Black for supplies as a way to keep him from interfering with the sacrifice of Stannis’ daughter. And thus, Davos wasn’t there for Stannis’ death and defeat. Meanwhile, a faction of the Night’s Watch turned against Jon Snow and murdered him in the closing seconds of the fifth season.

The preview scene starts at the 1:49 mark in the video below, as Davos and a few remaining Night’s Watch members who were loyal to Jon Snow guard his body alongside the dire wolf known as Ghost. And it looks like the same men who killed Jon now threaten those who would stand by him in death.

Game of Thrones season 6 will premiere on Sunday, April 24 on HBO.
