Last month, BBC pulled Doctor Who from all streaming services including Netflix and Hulu as of February 1st. At the time, it was widely assumed to be a play for BBC to launch its streaming service with Doctor Who and other British programming, but BBC flatly denied that rumor.
While Whovians will have no streaming options for Doctor Who through the end of the month, Amazon Prime subscribers will once again have access to the first eight seasons of the series beginning on March 1st. Amazon confirmed the news with a tweet from its official account, which has apparently since been deleted.
That’s good news for Amazon Prime fans, but less so for people who exclusively use either Hulu or Netflix. But it’s entirely possible that Doctor Who could return to those streaming services as well. Keep in mind, Doctor Who is going on an extended hiatus in 2016 before returning in 2017 for its tenth season.

That’s a long time for Doctor Who to be missing from the world of streaming programming, and it makes more sense to keep the show available on as many platforms as possible. Although, it’s also possible that Amazon Prime may have a window of exclusivity before Doctor Who can come back to the other streaming services.
It’s also unclear when the recently concluded ninth season of Doctor Who will be available for streaming. Presumably, that will happen later this year.
