V Festival 2016’s organisers have announced its headliners for the year, and the appointment of Justin Bieber at the top of the bill has seen the three-day event fully embrace the dark side it has been leaning towards for the past few years.
V Festival has spent its recent years appeasing an audience of confused teens, whose cognitive abilities are impaired due to an overuse of laughing gas and poor circulation as a result of their too-tight top-knots, though the festival has openly struggled with its identity by frequently enlisting the services of The Killers, Kings of Leon and The Kooks, a trifecta of bands no one but V Festival’s organisers continued to give two shits about after the year 2009. However, 2016’s line-up suggests that the festival has finally come to terms with the fact that it is basically T in the Park, but for people who have tried MDMA at least twice.
However, 2016 has seen the festival finally make the full transition to the least appealing music event in the UK, with Kaiser Chiefs, Little Mix, Rita Ora and All Saints (yes, ALL SAINTS) also joining its line-up. Rihanna has also been announced as another headliner, though, so at least there’s that.
