Amazon Canada Lists PlayStation VR Price as $1,125

Amazon Canada accidentally posted a listing for the PlayStation VR today, with its price measuring it an excruciatingly high $1,125.35 (that’s roughly $800 in US dollars) and its release date touted for December 31st, 2016.

The listing was spotted by gaming journalist Jason Evangelho on Twitter, and it certainly seems like an incredibly steep figure for the headset to be valued at by Sony.

With the Oculus Rift headset priced at $599 and it being a technically superior device, it seems very unlikely that Sony would price the PlayStation VR so high, considering that many are expecting it to be one of the more affordable virtual reality headsets on the market.

The likelihood is that it is a placeholder listing that has mistakenly been published by Amazon, and that the actual pricing will fall far below this number, given that the device is expected to retail for around $350 – $400. That, or its $800 pricing and December 31st release date are correct, and it will therefore be the most ill-advised product launch ever. We’re going with the former.
