Ouch! Erykah Badu Slams Iggy Azalea Onstage at the Soul Train Awards

The least desirable job on the planet this morning may just be Iggy Azalea’s publicist, after a brutal public takedown by Erykah Badu on Sunday at the Soul Train Awards.

Badu is on a hot streak this month after dropping her new mixtape, But You Caint Use My Phone, but her shots at Iggy were completely out of the blue. The beleaguered Aussie rapper has been off the map since June, doing damage control after a series of articles declared her career was over following the discovery of racist tweets, homophobic comments and more. She lost a string of high-profile friends and was even prevented from appearing at an LGBT event. Early on, Snoop Dogg added fuel to the anti-Iggy backlash fire in October of 2014 when he compared her to a transvestite black man in whiteface.

While onstage hosting at the Soul Train Awards, Badu pretended to take a phone call from Azalea during a segment about stars climbing on board the Soul Train.

“Iggy?” Badu asked innocently. “Oh no, you can’t come, ’cause what you doing is definitely not rap.” The audience gasped and applauded before the camera cut quickly to Jidenna, who spilled his own tea about the Australian entertainer last summer. Watch Badu’s diss below.

Ball’s in your court, Iggy. But you may be better off staying home for this one.
