New Jessica Jones Motion Poster Puts The Spotlight on Kilgrave

In just under a month, Marvel TV will introduce Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones in a new 13-episode live-action TV series. Unlike most comic book heroines, Jessica Jones’ career as a costumed heroine left her broken and suffering from PTSD. Unfortunately for Jessica, the man who put her through that trauma is coming back to haunt her.

The man in question will be played by none other than David Tennant, the former star of Doctor Who and current star of Broadchurch. Tennant’s Jessica Jones role is a rare villainous turn for the actor. And as seen in the Jessica Jones trailer and teaser trailers, Tennant’s superpowers allow him to control the minds of almost anyone he meets…including Jessica.

In Marvel’s comic book universe, the counterpart of Tennant’s character is Zebediah Killgrave a.k.a. the Purple Man. That name stems from Kilgrave’s purple skin in the comic books. And while Tennant’s character appears to have normal skin in Jessica Jones, the world around him appears to turn purple when he approaches a potential victim and bends them to his will.

Netflix and Marvel have released a new motion poster for Jessica Jones that puts Kilgrave in the spotlight. It’s not as effective as having an actual trailer, but it’s still a cool visual.

Mike Colter co-stars in Jessica Jones as Luke Cage, with Rachael Taylor, Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Traval in supporting roles. All 13 episodes of Jessica Jones will premiere on Friday, November 20. Colter will headline a Luke Cage series in 2016 that will be produced in conjunction with the second season of Daredevil.
